We had real winter here for about 2 weeks. It was amazing! As of Monday, December 8th it has disappeared. We had some intense wind and a bit of warmth and like a hair drier the snow, in town, has disappeared. Crosscut Mountain Sports Center is holding on but time will tell as we navigate this weather system and pattern.

So what are folks doing to prepare for nordic season and racing? Well, it is a good time to check your ski fleets and make sure you have what you need for the upcoming season. Nordic stone grinding with a quality machine can make good skis great!

It is like I told my kids (and myself) but skiing is all about being able to adapt. Who can adapt and move from session to session and remember the big picture?! Replace your planned snow sessions with your tried and true dryland activities. Intensity can be done on foot with poles (running, bounding, moose-hoofing), rollerskis, etc. Focus on strength and get back in the gym. And get some rest. After a full Fall of running/training and then jumping on snow for a few weeks is hard on the body and makes for a long ski season. Get some rest and go back to the basics until the snow is back in the forecast!
