Skis are cleaned and brushed to remove residue from the grinder. Skis fresh off of the stone grinder are vulnerable and should be treated quickly with a warm wax application. I do recommend a heatbox application for maximum wax penetration. Skis are covered in a soft warm wax and placed in a heated box for at least 1 hour with a consistent temperature of approx. 110 degrees fahrenheit. This ambient air is enough to keep the wax molten but not warm enough to damage the ski. Skis are pulled from the box and allowed to cool. They are then scraped and brushed. The ski is now viable but should be hardened as well for base longevity. Hardening is the process of applying 2-3 applications of a substantially harder wax (or wax of the intended use, e.g., graphite, or blue, or maybe red) and allowing each application to fully cool on the ski. Skis that are properly hardened are ready for your enjoyment!
